Do you remember my Pouch2Go product review I posted two weeks ago? I tested these reusable food pouches out using my homemade applesauce recipe and they were a big hit. Both my nine month old son and three year old daughter enjoyed eating pureed food out of them with minimal mess! They are simple and convenient for a quick, on-the-go snack. You fill the pouches with pureed food, squeeze it out, and place the empty pouches in the dishwasher. That’s it. It is better for the environment and cheaper than buying disposable squeeze food pouches.

Tonight, I decided to experiment and make homemade pumpkin baby food to fill up the pouches. My children have never tasted plain pumpkin before so I didn’t have high expectations for them to actually eat it but I wanted them to try something new. My toddler gave me the most disgusted look ever… However, my baby LOVED it! (I wouldn’t trust my toddler’s approval with this recipe though. She is strange with her food lately. She won’t even eat pizza, so I promise my homemade pumpkin baby food is worth a try!)
Homemade Pumpkin Baby Food
Fresh Pumpkin Puree
Cinnamon (to taste)
I made a fresh batch of pumpkin puree. (I made 11 pie pumpkins worth of pumpkin puree this season. I will probably make triple or quadruple the amount next year!) Simply, add a couple dashes of cinnamon to about 1.5 cups of pumpkin puree and serve in the Pouch2Go food pouch. I was able to fill three pouches and have some left over.
I made a quick video of Fox (10 months old) being introduced to pumpkin. It was one hour past his bedtime (bad mama), but the special homemade pumpkin baby food perked him right up!
