Thanks to a busy schedule, we have only been able to hit up a few farms this year as an entire family. It is hard to find time when my husband’s work and sleep schedule coordinates with the kids sleep/nap schedule. BUT it finally happened and then we chose to visit an orchard for one of my favorite fall festivities: apple picking! Ed Dunneback & Girls Farm has a great orchard filled with many tasty apple varieties, a pumpkin patch, farmer’s market, a kid’s play area, and a trivia corn maze all located in a beautiful country setting. My only hope is that one day they will sell honey because honey sticks are my all time favorite part of fall. *wink* wink* Last year, I went with my friend, Candace, and daughter. We took some great pics last year. View here. 🙂 We had a blast, so this year I brought my husband with us.
We brought home a half bushel of second picks to make homemade applesauce and a peck of hand picked apples to eat. This year my favorite apples are Ruby Jonathan and Empire. Honey Crisp are a favorite as well, but I don’t feel the need to pay extra and pick apples off those trees when there are just as many other delicious varieties.
If you are ever in West Michigan, I encourage you to visit their orchard. It’s beautiful!
